Dredging the Harbour

The Governor recommended the Council to vote a sum of one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars ($136,000) in aid of the vote Public Works, Extraordinary, Hongkong, Miscellaneous, Dredging

Harbour.

The CHAIRMAN This gum of money is the amount required for a thorough over haul and repairs to the steam launch Fictoria. The Victoria has been in ser vice for something like 30 years, and has proved a very good launch. It was either a case of scrapping her or repairing her, and the opinion of the experts is that if this sum is spent she will become a very good launch and will be available for a considerable time.

The vote was agreed to.

for two years, so the value now stands at $135,000. But the auditor has expressed him, that it should be dropped out of the view and the Treasurer agrees with

unallocated stores and should be retrans-

ferred at an early date under another heading. There we took the oppor of the amount from the finances of the tunity of taking his vote and writing Colony so as to reduce allocated stores to such a total as was approved, sa a matter of fact, by the Secretary of State, namely, $100,000.

The vote was agreed to.
